Itanagar, May 2: On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, the Spearhead Gunners under the aegis of Spear Corps organised a community outreach programme at Mechuka, reinforcing the Indian Army’s commitment towards fostering harmony, environmental stewardship and civil-military synergy.
As part of the initiative, a tree plantation drive was conducted in collaboration with Gaon Burahs, symbolising collective responsibility towards environmental conservation. The activity drew active participation from the local community and reflected the timeless teachings of Lord Buddha on peace, balance and respect for nature.
In a gesture of reverence towards the region’s rich spiritual heritage, gifts were presented to the 500-year-old Samten Yangchak Monastery, a revered centre dedicated to Lord Buddha. The offering underscored the Army’s respect for local traditions and its commitment to promoting the values of peace, compassion and social harmony.
