CATC-05 kicks off at JNV Megdong, bringing NCC training closer to cadets

ITANAGAR, May 2: In a significant initiative to promote inclusive training, the 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion National Cadet Corps (NCC) has commenced the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-05) at JNV Megdong in Kamle district on Friday.

The 10-day camp, being held under the aegis of the NCC Group Headquarters Tezpur, marks a milestone as it is the first time the battalion has organized a camp in this remote location. Situated near the scenic Subansiri River, the venue offers a unique and enriching environment for cadets.

The initiative, guided by Commanding Officer Col Samudra Vijay Sarma, aims to extend training opportunities to cadets from far-flung areas who often face logistical and financial challenges in attending camps held in central locations. By bringing the camp closer to these regions, the NCC seeks to ensure wider participation and equitable access to structured training.

NCC camps play a crucial role in fostering discipline, leadership, and overall personality development among youth. The camp features a comprehensive training schedule, including drill, weapon training, firing practice, physical fitness sessions, motivational lectures, and cultural activities.

Officials noted that hosting CATC-05 in a remote district is a conscious effort to reduce barriers such as travel costs and to encourage greater participation among cadets from underserved areas.

The camp is expected to strengthen grassroots engagement and inspire cadets from remote regions to actively take part in NCC activities. It also reflects the battalion’s commitment to inclusivity, equal opportunity, and holistic development, ensuring that no cadet is left behind.
