Immunisation meet at Chayang Tajo focuses on expanding vaccine coverage

CHAYANG TAJO, May 2: A Block Task Force Immunisation Meeting was convened at Community Health Centre (CHC) Chayang Tajo on Friday to review and strengthen vaccination efforts in the area.

The meeting was chaired by Circle Officer Rajiv Ranjan Ray and coordinated by Medical Officer Dr Shanti Tajo. It brought together ASHA workers, Self-Help Group (SHG) coordinators, nursing officers, school representatives, and other stakeholders.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shanti Tajo highlighted the importance of immunisation in preventing diseases and achieving the objectives of the Mission Indradhanush. She also informed that vaccination services are regularly available every Saturday at the CHC.

Special emphasis was laid on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for adolescent girls aged 14–15 years, with schools urged to assist in identifying eligible beneficiaries to improve coverage.

During the meeting, ASHA workers raised concerns over vaccine hesitancy, reluctance among some families to share Aadhaar details, and prevailing myths related to immunisation. To address these challenges, it was decided that nursing staff and multi-tasking staff would intensify awareness campaigns at the grassroots level.

SHG coordinators also assured support in identifying immunisation dropouts through their networks. The meeting further stressed the importance of convergence among departments, deciding to align Health and Nutrition Days with Panchayat Level Federation meetings for better outreach.

In his concluding remarks, the Circle Officer called for focused efforts to improve immunisation coverage among the Puroik community, noting the challenges posed by their migratory lifestyle.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to enhance immunisation coverage and improve public health outcomes in the region. (DIPRO)
