Joint inter-state boundary survey done for Stretch–II in L/Siang

LIKABALI, May 3: Aiming to pave the way for a peaceful, transparent and time-bound resolution of the long-pending inter-state boundary “row”, Joint Inter-State Boundary (ISB) Survey along the Assam-Arunachal border, which began on May 1 in Lower Siang district, was successfully completed for Stretch–II on Saturday, covering Telam up to Seren Agma river under New Seren circle.

The Assam–Arunachal border delineation exercise involving Lower Siang and its counterpart district of Assam – Dhemaji covers identified stretches along the inter-state boundary to facilitate an amicable, scientific and on-ground demarcation of the border based on geospatial coordinates.

District administrations of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh carried out the joint survey, with participation from officials of the Border Affairs departments of both states, Land Management teams, and representatives from the Survey of India. The exercise was conducted in the presence of Gaon Burahs and Panchayat members, ensuring transparency and local coordination.

The survey was undertaken in the presence of Dasrath Deka, Advisor to the Government of Assam, Border Affairs Department; Ainstein Koyu, ADC Nari; Miti Gongo, Assistant Commissioner Likabali; Jane Mary Tayeng, Assistant Commissioner Likabali; Tage Asha, circle officer Nari; Rajeev Sonowal, ADC Dhemaji; Pakmo Koyu, ZPC Lower Siang; Mikir Koyu Doye, ZPM Seren, along with other senior leaders.

The next phase of the survey will be undertaken for Stretch–III, covering the Namey area under Nari circle. (DIPRO)
