Itanagar, May 6: The Arunachal Pradesh Government, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has announced a two per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for its employees and pensioners, reinforcing its commitment to their welfare.
The decision follows the Government of India’s Office Memorandums dated April 22 and April 24, 2026, regarding the enhancement of DA and DR for Central Government employees and pensioners.
The enhanced DA will be applicable to All India Service officers serving under the State Government, Central Government employees on deputation to Arunachal Pradesh, and all regular State Government employees. Similarly, the revised DR will benefit all pensioners and family pensioners.
The benefit will cover approximately 69,248 regular employees and 40,477 pensioners across the State.
The annual financial implication of the enhancement is estimated at Rs 100.54 crore, including Rs 83.31 crore towards DA and Rs 17.24 crore towards DR. Additionally, arrears for the period from January to April 2026 will be paid in cash, involving an estimated outlay of Rs 33.51 crore.
From May 2026 onwards, the enhanced DA and DR will be disbursed along with monthly salaries and pensions. The total financial implication, including arrears, stands at Rs 117.30 crore.
Congratulating the beneficiaries, Chief Minister Khandu expressed hope that government employees would reciprocate and continue to work with dedication, and contribute towards the welfare of the people, especially those at the grassroots level.
