Itanagar, May 6: In a significant milestone for child welfare and rehabilitation, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Seppa, East Kameng district, has successfully facilitated its first adoption case, marking a moment of hope, compassion, and renewed life for a child in need.
The case dates back nearly three years when an abandoned child was found within the district with no trace of parents or guardians. Despite extensive inquiries and efforts by concerned authorities, no individual came forward to claim the child. Recognizing the urgency, the DCPU intervened promptly to ensure the child’s safety, care, and protection in line with legal provisions.
Officials stated that the entire process was carried out with due diligence, strictly adhering to the provisions of the Adoption Regulations, and relevant child protection laws, keeping the best interests of the child at the forefront.
The adoption process was conducted under the guidance of Yashaswini B, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson of DCPU, Seppa, ensuring that all procedures were followed with sensitivity and professionalism.
With the successful placement of the child into a caring and nurturing adoptive family, the district has achieved a landmark breakthrough in its child protection efforts. Officials described the development as not just the completion of a legal process, but the beginning of a new chapter in the child’s life—one filled with security, dignity, and affection.
The success story highlights the commitment of the child protection system and underscores the importance of adoption as a meaningful pathway to provide children with safe and loving homes.
