Python rescued from residential area, released safely in Kane Wildlife Sanctuary

ITANAGAR, May 10: The Likabali Forest Division successfully rescued and safely released a python into its natural habitat after it was spotted in a residential area at Masi village on Sunday.

The rescue operation was conducted under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Keto Basar with active involvement from Range Forest Officer (RFO) of Kane Wildlife Sanctuary, Jumgo Geyi, and RFO of Laipulia Forest Range, Kenjum Membom.

According to officials, the python, measuring approximately 10 feet in length and weighing around 15 kg was captured by the villagers after it entered the locality. The villagers handled the situation carefully and ensured that no injury was caused to the reptile.

Forest officials later examined the snake and found it healthy and fit for release. The python was subsequently released safely into the forests of Kane Wildlife Sanctuary on Sunday evening.

The Likabali Forest Division appreciated the awareness and cooperation shown by the villagers in protecting wildlife. The division also appealed to the public to promptly inform the Forest Department whenever wild animals are sighted near human settlements to ensure safe rescue and conservation efforts.
