LIKABALI, May 11: Joining the rest of the State and the country, the Somnath Swabhiman Parv was celebrated in Lower Siang district today in a befitting way, with the main function held at the Shivalaya of the Malinithan Temple complex.
The ceremony began with Panchamrit Snan Puja, Aarti Vandana, Mantra Uchcharan and Bhajan-Kirtan led by ADC Likabali Mokar Riba (chief guest) at the threshold of the Shivalaya, followed by Prasad distribution among the devotees.
The resource person, Buru Taki enlightened the gathering, which included officers/ officials of various district departments, members of the Malinithan Vikash Parishad, AVP, youth groups and devotees. He elaborated on the significance of the Parv and its national importance for the people.
The chief guest led the puja and later spoke on the need to preserve indigenous cultural heritage, which symbolizes identity and existence. He stressed the importance of understanding the essence and message of the Parv, stating that it teaches people to rise again after every hardship and setback in life with resilience and determination.
Arrangements were also made for live viewing of the Prime Minister’s commemorative speech on the occasion.
Earlier, nodal officer Augusti Jamoh welcomed the attendees and presented an overview of the celebration. He described the occasion as marking the 1000th anniversary of the unbroken faith and resilience associated with the reconstruction of the Somnath Mandir after its destruction, as well as the 75th anniversary of its consecration after rebuilding.
As part of the preparations, the Shiva Ling and temple premises were cleaned a day earlier by members of the district administration, Malinithan Vikash Parishad members and local women volunteers. (DIPRO)
