ITANAGAR, May 11: Voluntary blood donation camps were organised in Ziro and Daporijo on Monday to commemorate the 7th death anniversary of Late Dr Minge Loyi, former president of the Galo Welfare Society (GWS), with community organisations and police personnel coming together to promote humanitarian service and social awareness.
In Ziro, the Lower Subansiri District Police and the GWS Ziro Unit jointly organised a blood donation camp at the Blood Centre of Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital under the Pan Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donation Programme.
The initiative transformed a day of remembrance into a life-saving mission, highlighting a meaningful way to honour the legacy of prominent social leaders. The camp witnessed participation from 29 volunteers, out of which 22 units of blood were successfully collected.
The programme was led by SP Keni Bagra, Inspector Nani K Nabin, and GWS leaders including Topi Sora, Tayo Nada, Kejum Riba, and Morba Karbak.
Organisers described the initiative as a “service-based commemoration model” aimed at ensuring that the legacy of Late Dr Minge Loyi continues to inspire humanitarian work and community welfare.
Meanwhile, a mass blood donation camp was organised at the Blood Bank of District Hospital, Daporijo by the GWS, Galo Youth Organisation (GYO), and Upper Subansiri District Galo Students’ Union (USDGSU).
Members of various Galo community-based organisations, particularly from Upper Subansiri district, actively participated in the programme and voluntarily donated blood.
As a mark of respect, participants offered floral tributes at the photograph of Late Dr Minge Loyi, remembering his immense contribution towards the welfare and upliftment of the Galo community.
Community leaders recalled the selfless sacrifices and dedicated services rendered by Late Dr Minge Loyi during his tenure as president of GWS, stating that his leadership and vision continue to inspire younger generations.
The organisers also expressed gratitude to the medical staff and authorities of District Hospital for their support in successfully conducting the camp.
