APSFC reviews food security, welfare schemes in E/Kameng

SEPPA, May 12: A team from the Arunachal Pradesh State Food Commission (APSFC) visited the East Kameng district headquarters Seppa on Tuesday to review the implementation of various food distribution and welfare schemes in the district.

The team, led by Chairman Tarh Tarak, held discussions with district authorities, including the Deputy Commissioner, regarding the functioning and monitoring of food supply systems under different government schemes.

Several key issues, including the Mid-Day Meal scheme, proper implementation of the Public Distribution System (PDS), and public grievances related to food distribution, were discussed during the meeting.

During the visit, the Commission reviewed the implementation of the National Food Security Act, storage facilities, and the functioning of the PDS in the district. Officials also discussed challenges related to timely supply and proper distribution of essential commodities to beneficiaries across East Kameng.

The APSFC team is currently on a four-day tour of the western districts of the state, including Tawang, West Kameng, Bichom, and East Kameng, to assess the implementation of the National Food Security Act and related welfare schemes.
