Crackdown against narcotics and drug abuse continues in Deomali

KHONSA, May 13: Continuing the crackdown against narcotics and drug abuse in Deomali sub-division of Tirap district, the police administration (Deomali) teaming up with the sub-divisional administration apprehended two suspected female drug peddlers.

The peddlers have been identified as Mejhai Lowang (26) and Phampi Lowang (32), both residents of Namsang village, from CRPF Colony on Monday last.

Based on the statements of the arrested accused persons, another location in Udyog Colony (Deomali), was raided, leading to the recovery of approximately 1.4 grams of suspected narcotic substances along with other incriminating articles from the residence of one Nokwang Thingnok, resident of Old Doidam, Soha circle, Tirap district, on the same day.

Subsequently, Thingnok was formally arrested on Tuesday.

The operation, led by Officer-in-Charge, Deomali police station, Wangke Ronrang (Inspector), along with Ngalo Jilen (SI), and Toko Kacha, circle officer-cum-town magistrate (Deomali), was a part of the continuous and determined efforts of the district administration and Police department in combating the growing menace of drug abuse in Tirap district and the State as a whole.

In the meantime, the sub-divisional and police administrations (Deomali) have appealed to the people of Deomali to extend their cooperation and support in eradicating drug menace from society for a safer and healthier future. (DIPRO)
