Itanagar, May 14: Veer Nari Koiman Wangpan, wife of Late Sepoy Agoi Wangsa, Shaurya Chakra (posthumous), called on Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik at Lok Bhavan here on Thursday.
During the interaction, the Governor enquired about her family's well-being, and appreciated her courage, resilience and strength in overcoming personal adversity.
Describing her as an inspiration for society, Parnaik encouraged Wangpan to move forward with confidence and dignity. He said her determination and spirit reflect the true values of sacrifice, patriotism and service to the nation.
The Governor advised her to actively participate in community service, women empowerment initiatives and youth guidance programmes so that her life journey could inspire and motivate others, especially the younger generation. He also emphasised the importance of education, skill development, self-reliance and the welfare of her children.
The Governor encouraged her to make full use of various welfare schemes and support systems available for Veer Naris to help secure an empowered future for her family.
During the meeting, Wangpan shared her aspirations and challenges, seeking guidance and support from the Governor. She also apprised the Governor about not receiving certain emoluments due to her by the State Government. The Governor assured her of necessary assistance through the Rajya Sainik Board.
It may be recalled that the Governor had virtually inaugurated the War Memorial dedicated to Lance Naik Agoi Wangsa at Longding on April 20, 2025, in honour of his supreme sacrifice and service to the nation.
