ITANAGAR, May 15: Newly appointed NITI Aayog Member Dr Joram Aniya called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, on Friday.
During the meeting, the Governor congratulated Dr Aniya on her appointment to NITI Aayog, the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India. He expressed confidence that she would make significant contributions towards the economic growth and inclusive development of both the nation and Arunachal Pradesh through people-centric policymaking.
Highlighting the unique geographical and demographic challenges of the State, the Governor said development parameters designed for plains and other states should not be uniformly applied to hill states like Arunachal Pradesh, which faces constraints due to difficult terrain, sparse population, and rich cultural diversity.
He also underscored the strategic importance of Arunachal Pradesh and pointed out its immense potential in hydropower, tourism, environmental conservation, and preservation of cultural heritage. He said these strengths make Arunachal Pradesh deserving of special focus and priority in national planning and development initiatives.
