Nirjuli, May 17: The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), a Deemed-to-be University, under the Ministry of Education, Govt of India, has achieved remarkable success in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)-2026.
A total of 32 students from the Departments of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering qualified the prestigious national-level examination through the GATE Coaching Centre established at NERIST with financial support from North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) under the Pare Project initiative.
According to the Institute, 13 successful candidates are from the Department of Civil Engineering, 12 from Electrical Engineering, and seven from Mechanical Engineering.
The achievement highlights the academic excellence and dedication of the students, along with the continuous guidance and mentoring provided by faculty coordinators of the respective departments.
Expressing happiness over the outstanding results, the institute administration congratulated the successful candidates for bringing laurels to NERIST and the North Eastern region.
Dean of Students’ Affairs and Centre Coordinator, Prof PR Gajurel, along with departmental coordinators Dr SK Tamang (Mechanical Engg), Dr Yemem Tamut (Civil Engg), and Dr Akhilesh Sharma (Electrical Engg), appreciated the hard work and commitment of both students and faculty members.
NERIST also expressed gratitude to NEEPCO for its generous financial assistance through the Pare Project, which facilitated the establishment and smooth functioning of the GATE Coaching Centre. The institute stated that the initiative has significantly strengthened competitive examination preparedness among students of the NE region and hoped that such collaborations between academic institutions and public sector organisations would continue to empower students and promote technical education in the region.
