Khonsa, May 18: State’s Transport Minister Ojing Tasing on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting in Khonsa to assess preparations for the upcoming Golden Jubilee celebration of the Transport Department.
The meeting was attended by Environment & Forest and DoTCL Minister Wangki Lowang, MLA-cum-Advisor to the Transport Minister Chakat Aboh, and Khonsa East MLA Wanglam Sawin, along with senior administrative and police officials, heads of departments, and public representatives.
During the meeting, Minister Tasing reviewed the progress of various preparatory works undertaken so far and outlined the programmes and activities planned for the three-day Golden Jubilee celebration of the Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS), scheduled from May 29 to 31.
Emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts, the Minister called for active cooperation among all stakeholders, including the district administration and local community, to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event. He described the celebration as a landmark occasion not only for the Transport Department but also for Tirap district.
Highlighting some of the special attractions planned for the event, Tasing informed that a restaurant bus fitted with an inbuilt kitchen and a road safety awareness bus would be introduced during the celebrations.
He further stated that the event itinerary includes a marathon race on May 29, a health camp on May 30, and food and catering services to be managed by Self Help Groups (SHGs). The programme will also feature the flagging off of 20 modern buses.
Cultural programmes showcasing the traditions and heritage of the Tirap, Changlang, and Longding (TCL) region through folk music and dance are expected to be among the major highlights of the celebration.
General Manager of State Transport Services Mito Dirchi briefed the gathering on arrangements related to security, accommodation, and logistics for invited guests and participants. The organisers also presented the detailed programme schedule and sought continued cooperation from all departments to ensure the grand success of the Golden Jubilee celebrations. (DIPRO)
