Itanagar, May 19: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik has called for greater augmentation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the State, stating that MSMEs can become a strong pillar of Arunachal Pradesh’s socio-economic development.
Interacting with Santanu Srivastava, MD & CEO of Ishan International, at New Delhi on Tuesday, the Governor said Arunachal Pradesh possesses immense potential for entrepreneurship and local enterprise development due to its rich natural resources, tribal crafts, organic farming potential, forest produce, tourism opportunities, and unique cultural heritage.
He highlighted that MSMEs can generate sustainable livelihood opportunities for youth, women, artisans, farmers, and self-help groups. He noted that sectors such as food processing, bamboo and cane products, handloom and handicrafts, eco-tourism, horticulture, herbal products, organic agriculture, and small-scale manufacturing hold tremendous promise for the State.
The Governor further stated that MSMEs can strengthen self-reliance, reduce unemployment, and discourage migration of youth to cities in search of jobs. He added that these enterprises also help local entrepreneurs gain confidence and financial independence while preserving traditional skills and indigenous knowledge.
Emphasizing the need for better infrastructure, financial support, skill development, market connectivity, and digital access, the Governor said MSMEs can drive inclusive growth, strengthen the rural economy, and contribute significantly towards the vision of “Atmanirbhar Arunachal” and “Viksit Bharat.”
