Eingko Foundation organises story reading session for children

Ziro, May 19: In an effort to promote reading habits among children, Eingko Foundation organised a story reading session under Project Purisa at its office-cum-library in Lempia, Ziro, on Tuesday.

Highlighting the objectives of the programme, Tage Onia, founder of Eingko Foundation, stressed the importance of cultivating reading habits among school children. She observed that many children today are increasingly dependent on the internet and mobile phones, gradually drifting away from reading books.

She expressed hope that such initiatives would help improve reading skills, particularly among students studying in government schools. Attending the programme as resource person, Tai Arun, Trade Development Officer, Lower Subansiri district, conducted an engaging reading session where he read selected chapters from Wings of Fire, the autobiography of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

Interacting with the children, Arun shared the inspiring life journey of Dr Kalam, who rose from a humble background in a village in Tamil Nadu to become India’s celebrated “Missile Man” and later the President of the country.

Drawing lessons from Dr Kalam’s childhood struggles and achievements, he encouraged the children to remain honest, disciplined, and hardworking in order to succeed in life.

He also motivated the students by sharing Dr Kalam’s famous quote: “Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action.”

As part of the programme, Arun donated inspirational books to the library run by Eingko Foundation. A large number of school children and volunteers of the Foundation participated enthusiastically in the story reading session.
