TEZU, May 20: Lohit Youth Libraries celebrated its 19th foundation day at the Bamboosa Library premises here today in a befitting manner.
“Reading books is far better than social media, to acquire knowledge. Successful leaders are great readers, like Bill Gates, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and Elon Musk”, said Radhe Raja, Supt Engineer PHE (Tezu), while addressing the readers, volunteers and parents on the occasion.
“You have demonstrated very well your reading skills, now motivate your friends also to come regularly to the library.”Speaking on the importance of using water judiciously, the SE reminded them about the acute water-scarcity around the world and urged them to cooperate with the PHE Dept for better water conservation. Practise three important steps for conserving water: 1. Keep all taps closed after use. 2. Use water only as much as you need. 3. Create awareness among your friends and parents to look for ways to conserve water.”
Senior volunteer Nishanlu Kri welcomed the gathering, followed by invocation by ‘Wakro Sister’ Ashapmai Dellang, who rendered a melodious Carnatic bhajan on Ganesha.
Speaking about the growth of the Lohit Youth Library Movement, senior volunteer Banika Kri highlighted its principle, saying: “If readers can’t go to books, books must go to the readers”. She also gratefully remembered that thanks to the generous patronage of book lovers, the library movement has opened a path for many of the volunteers to grow personally and professionally.
Senior volunteer Bethem Marai introduced the Forum of Library Activists, as the living force of the youth Library movement and its efforts to popularize mother language literature among the common people.
Junior volunteers and readers cheered the audience with interesting reading and recitation activities.
Bahailu Rangmang, I/c APNE Library, Wakro, also spoke.
