NAMSAI, May 21: A three-day Regional Training on Sub-National Malaria Elimination Verification (SNMEV) commenced on Thursday at Namsai with participation of representatives from 19 malaria-free districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
The training programme was inaugurated by Namsai Deputy Commissioner C R Khampa in the presence of National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) Assistant Director Dr Sambit Pradhan, Regional Director of ROHFW, Dr Atiqur Rahman, State Programme Officer Dr K T Mulung, Namsai DMO Dr Sulanti Namchoom and NCVBDC Senior Consultant Dr Kalpana Baruah.
The training aims to prepare and recognise districts that have successfully sustained zero indigenous malaria cases since 2022 under the Sub-National Malaria Elimination Verification framework.
Representatives from all 19 districts that have reported zero indigenous malaria cases since 2022 participated in the training with enthusiasm and commitment towards sustaining malaria-free status and preventing the re-establishment of malaria transmission.
The participating districts include Longding, Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi, Lower Subansiri, Upper Subansiri, Kamle, Pakke Kessang, Siang, East Siang, West Siang, Lower Siang, Dibang Valley, Lower Dibang Valley, East Kameng, West Kameng, Tawang, Anjaw, Leparada and Namsai. (DIPRO)
