ITANAGAR, May 21: A coordination meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Phase-III of electoral rolls in Arunachal Pradesh was held in Tawang Deputy Commissioner’s office premises here on Thursday to ensure smooth and transparent conduct of the revision process.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Namgyal Angmo, and attended by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and representatives of various political parties.
During the meeting, Assistant Commissioner (Election) Sange Norbu briefed participants on the detailed schedule and roadmap for the SIR exercise. He informed that preparatory activities, including training and printing of materials, would be conducted from June 5 to 14, while the house-to-house verification drive by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would take place from June 15 to July 14, 2026.
The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on July 21, followed by the claims and objections period which will remain open till August 20. Disposal of claims and objections will continue till September 18, after which the final electoral roll will be published on September 22, 2026.
The meeting focused on effective coordination and smooth conduct of the SIR activities, highlighting the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in maintaining transparency and integrity in the electoral process.
Emphasising the importance of accuracy and inclusiveness in the electoral process, the DC urged all political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at the earliest and actively participate in the revision exercise to ensure an error-free electoral roll.
Meanwhile, a similar meeting on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls was held at Yingkiong under the chairmanship of Upper Siang DC-cum-DEO Talo Jerang.
Addressing the meeting, the DEO highlighted the key features, necessity, process and schedule of the SIR exercise in Arunachal Pradesh. He stressed the important role of political parties in ensuring successful implementation of the revision process and advised party representatives to organise training programmes and appoint BLAs to assist Booth Level Officers during the exercise.
He also called for active cooperation from all stakeholders, including HoDs and political party representatives, to ensure a smooth, transparent and error-free revision process in the district.
Earlier, ADC (HQ)-cum-ERO Natek Nonang highlighted the objectives of the SIR exercise. The meeting was attended by heads of departments, administrative officers and representatives of various political parties. (DIPROs)
