Khandu, Mein welcome progress on proposed Institute for Transforming Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar, May 22: Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein have expressed optimism over the proposed establishment of the Institute for Transforming Arunachal Pradesh, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening policy planning and governance in the state.

In a post on micro-blogging site X, Khandu said he was deeply encouraged that the vision for establishing the Institute for Transforming Arunachal Pradesh (ITA) is steadily taking shape through the proactive engagement of NITI Aayog and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister noted that the state has long advocated the need for a dedicated policy think tank capable of providing strategic direction, evidence-based policymaking, and long-term developmental planning tailored to Arunachal Pradesh’s unique geographical, cultural, and economic realities.

Khandu expressed gratitude to NITI Aayog Member Joram Aniya, CEO Nidhi Chhibber and officials associated with the initiative for their commitment towards Arunachal Pradesh’s developmental aspirations.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein termed the proposed institute an important milestone in building a stronger institutional framework for the future of the state.

He stated that Arunachal Pradesh possesses immense potential in sectors such as hydropower, connectivity, tourism, agriculture, and youth empowerment. According to him, fully harnessing these opportunities requires a dedicated policy institution that can promote research-backed governance, long-term planning, and innovative developmental strategies aligned with the aspirations and challenges of the state.

Mein also appreciated the initiative taken by NITI Aayog in advancing the vision through consultations and collaborative engagement with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

He also conveyed his appreciation to Nidhi Chhibber, Dr Joram Aniya, and all officials involved for their support towards the transformational and inclusive developmental journey of Arunachal Pradesh.
