Coordination meeting on E-Roll Revision held in Yupia

YUPIA, May 22: A district-level coordination meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of Electoral Rolls was conducted at the Conference Hall of the Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Thursday.

The meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Lobsang Tsering, was attended by representatives of political parties, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and other election officials.

During the meeting, the ECI notification regarding the SIR 2026 exercise was discussed in detail. Highlighting the objectives and schedule of the revision programme, the ERO of Itanagar Assembly Constituency stated that the exercise aims to ensure a clean and error-free electoral roll by enrolling all eligible voters while deleting ineligible entries.

Representatives of various political parties raised concerns over duplicate entries, names of deceased electors, permanently shifted voters, and the role of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in the verification process.

In response, the EROs assured that necessary corrective measures would be taken during the revision exercise and urged political parties to actively cooperate by appointing BLAs for effective verification at the grassroots level.

ZPC Bamang Yayu emphasized that the verification process should be conducted strictly as per due procedure without causing unnecessary inconvenience to genuine electors. (DIPRO)
