Rajya Sabha election in Arunachal on June 18

Itanagar, May 25: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the biennial election to the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) from Arunachal Pradesh to fill one seat, as the term of the sitting member is set to expire on June 23, 2026.

The election process will begin with the issue of notification on June 1. The last date for filing nominations is June 8, while scrutiny of nominations will be held on June 9. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is June 11. Polling, if required, will be conducted on June 18 from 9 am to 4 pm, and votes counting will take place the same day at 5 pm. The entire election process is to be completed before June 20, according to a press note issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, Arunachal Pradesh.

The ECI has directed that only integrated violet colour sketch pens of pre-fixed specification supplied by the Returning Officer shall be used for marking preferences on ballot papers.

The Commission has also assured that adequate measures, including the appointment of observers, will be undertaken to ensure free and fair conduct of the election.
