Khandu, NCW Chief hold talks on women’s welfare, empowerment

Itanagar, May 28: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday received National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar during her visit to the state and held discussions on key issues concerning women’s welfare and empowerment.

The meeting focused on enhancing women’s safety, education, economic empowerment, skill development and ensuring better access to institutional support and justice mechanisms, particularly for women residing in remote and rural areas.

Sharing details of the interaction, Khandu described the discussion as meaningful and centred on creating more opportunities for inclusive growth and strengthening welfare measures for women across the state.

Rahatkar appreciated the important role of women in Arunachal Pradesh’s vibrant tribal society and emphasized the need for coordinated initiatives by the Centre and the State Government to further promote women’s leadership, dignity and equal opportunities.

She said continued dialogue and cooperation on issues related to women’s rights, safety and empowerment would contribute towards positive and lasting social change.
