BOMDILA, May 28: West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar on Thursday chaired a review meeting of the Education Department at his office premises here to assess academic performance, staffing position and implementation of various educational programmes in the district.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed students’ academic performance, availability of teaching staff and implementation of schemes under ISSE and PM Poshan.
It was informed that the acute shortage of subject teachers has adversely affected the performance of students in various State Board and CBSE examinations. It was also informed that the issue regarding the requirement of teachers has already been placed before the government.
Dr Kumar stated that he would personally visit schools across the district to gain a first-hand understanding of the challenges being faced by educational institutions and make efforts to address them wherever possible. He also called upon all stakeholders to work in coordination with different departments to ensure improved educational outcomes in the district.
Earlier, the DC reviewed the status of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) implementation and students’ bank accounts in the presence of the DDSE, branch managers of various banks, Block Education Officers (BEOs), BRCCs, CRCCs, heads of schools, SMC members, parents and students.
The meeting discussed issues related to DBT implementation and opening and verification of students’ bank accounts in detail. Officials informed that the district has so far achieved 88.33 percent DBT coverage for students.
The DC directed all concerned departments and stakeholders to ensure 100 percent achievement in DBT implementation and completion of students’ bank account verification by June 2026. He further advised schools to coordinate closely with stakeholders and administrative officers to achieve the target within the stipulated timeline. (DIPRO)
