MLA and DC take comprehensive review of CSS, flagship programs and other dev projects in Leparada district

BASAR, May 28: The monthly District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting was convened here on Wednesday at the DC’s conference hall, which was jointly chaired by local MLA Nyabi Jini Dirchi and Leparada Deputy Commissioner Himani Meena.

During the meeting, the MLA and the DC undertook a comprehensive department-wise review of centrally sponsored schemes, flagship programmes, and other developmental projects being implemented across the district, including sanctioned, completed, and ongoing works.

The progress and implementation status of various schemes and projects were assessed to ensure timely execution, effective monitoring and improve service delivery. The status of infrastructure development project work particularly New District HQ near Bam and Central Divisional Commissioner Office at Pagi was minutely reviewed.

Reviewing the high pendency rate of applications under schemes such as DDSUY, ANKY, and ANBY at the banker’s level, the DC expressed concern over such delays and advised concerned departmental heads to designate a nodal officer for regular monitoring of pending applications.

Appreciating the initiatives undertaken by the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) in promoting women empowerment through financial literacy and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), the DC directed the District Mission Manager (DMM) to identify and establish an emporium within Basar township on priority, which will facilitate to showcase and market local handicrafts, traditional products, and indigenous items produced by women SHGs.

While reviewing the performance of the Works Department, the DC emphasized that existing public assets and infrastructure should not be damaged during execution of new developmental works, particularly during earth-cutting activities. Departments were instructed to take due precautions to prevent disruption or damage to existing structures and facilities. Stressing the importance of systematic infrastructure development, DC further directed that building and infrastructure projects be routed through the Town Planning Wing for proper planning, scrutiny and design prior to execution.

Speaking at the meeting, the MLA highlighted the deplorable condition of the Akajan-Likabali-Bam (ALB) road before officials of the executing authority, and urged for immediate repair and maintenance of damaged stretches, particularly under Packages II and III falling within Leparada district jurisdiction. Describing the road as a “lifeline” for the people of the district, she emphasized the urgency of restoration works.

In response, the authority concerned sought one month’s time to undertake maintenance works in the identified stretches.

The MLA further urged all executing departments to share master plans relating to major buildings and infrastructure projects with the appropriate district authorities prior to commencement of work, saying this will ensure proper scrutiny, planning and execution. She categorically stated that quality of work must not be compromised under any circumstances and stressed the importance of due diligence in implementation of all developmental projects.

Emphasizing the need for self-reliance and local economic growth, Dirchi stated that agriculture and allied sectors should be actively promoted in the district to strengthen self-sufficiency, reduce dependence on external supplies, and enhance livelihood opportunities and revenue generation for local entrepreneurs and farmers.

MLA Dirchi further informed the house that a Special Surgery Camp will be organized at Todak Basar District Hospital, Basar, tentatively on 22nd June next, to be performed by renowned surgeon Dr Moji Jini (former Director TRIHMS) along with surgeons from AIIMS, New Delhi. (DIPRO)
