KHONSA, May 29: Marking the commencement of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS), Transport Minister Ojing Tasing on Friday flagged off the “Run for Road Safety” Marathon at Khonsa, in the presence of Khonsa West MLA cum Advisor to Home and Transport Departments, Chakat Aboh.
Organized as a key event of the APSTS Golden Jubilee celebrations, the marathon aimed at spreading road safety awareness, encouraging healthy lifestyles and promoting community participation. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from athletes, students, youths and members of the public from across Tirap district.
Senior officials and dignitaries present on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran, ZPC John KK Matey, district SP Aditya, Commissioner (Transport) Saugat Biswas, Khonsa ADC Namneet Singh, DSO (Sports) Noah Mongku, ZPMs and other officers.
The marathon featured competitions in Half Marathon (21 km), 10 km Run and 5 km Inter-School Run categories for both male and female participants.
The results: Half Marathon (Male): 1st – Humen Senapathi, 2nd – Vinit Rathi and 3rd – Son Engti; Half Marathon (Female): 1st – Tejaswani Lambkane, 2nd – Sangmir Teronpe and 3rd – Phohe Wangsu.
10 km (Male): 1st – Rajiv Tamang, 2nd – Agalumso Tawsik, and 3rd – Bacemso Pul; 10km (Female): 1st – Nang Lukkena Chautang, 2nd – Anai Wangsu, and 3rd – Wanglih Wangsu.
5 km Inter-School (Male): 1st – Thakdang Pansa, 2nd – Lapan Wangsu, & 3rd – Jenngo Rumchu; 5 km Inter-School (Female): 1st – Nguna Lowang, 2nd – Pitoh Wangsu & 3rd – Sainya Wangsa.
Cash prizes, trophies and certificates were distributed to the winners by Transport Minister Ojing Tasing, Advisor Chakat Aboh and Commissioner Saugat Biswas.
The marathon emerged as one of the major highlights of the APSTS Golden Jubilee celebrations, reflecting the spirit of fitness, sportsmanship and social responsibility. Through the theme “Run for Road Safety,” the programme also spread awareness on responsible road usage and public safety. (DIPRO)
