Itanagar, May 30: State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik on Saturday interacted with students from Kurung Kumey district who have successfully qualified for admission to Sainik Schools, and encouraged them to uphold discipline, dedication and excellence as they embark on a new phase of their educational journey.
The interaction was held at Lok Bhavan, where the Governor, who himself a former Sainik School student, shared his experiences and offered guidance to the young achievers.
Advising the students to remain focused and committed to both academics and character-building, he said Sainik Schools are premier institutions designed to nurture leadership qualities and prepare young minds for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and future service as officers in the Indian Armed Forces.
Parnaik emphasized that life in a Sainik School demands strict discipline, physical fitness, mental resilience and a strong sense of responsibility.
Congratulating the students on their achievement, he described their success as a matter of pride for Kurung Kumey district and Arunachal Pradesh, and expressed confidence that they would make the best use of the opportunity and grow into responsible citizens and future leaders.
The Governor also commended Assistant Commissioner of Koloriang, Nangram Pingkap, for spearheading a free coaching initiative that enabled students from rural and remote areas to compete successfully in the Sainik School entrance examination. He lauded the efforts of Indian Army personnel, teachers and mentors who guided and motivated the students despite geographical and logistical challenges in the district’s interior regions.
The Governor further acknowledged the vital role played by parents in shaping the future of their children and appreciated them for choosing Sainik Schools as a pathway to quality education, discipline and national service.
“The combined efforts of parents, teachers, mentors and community leaders are instrumental in nurturing the next generation of leaders for the nation,” he said.
During the programme, Pingkap briefed the Governor on the district administration’s collaborative efforts with the Indian Army to identify, mentor and prepare students from remote areas of Kurung Kumey for the Sainik School entrance examination. He highlighted that sustained guidance, dedicated coaching and community support had contributed significantly to the students’ success.
The programme was attended by Koloriang MLA Pani Taram, Commanding Officer of the 19th Battalion of the Jat Regiment Col Rohit Gularia, Company Commander of Sarli Company Major Sarvodaya Tak, besides parents, teachers and other officials.
