Kanubari, Jun 2: ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longding, Kanubari formally inaugurated the month-long “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” programme at Kanubari on Monday. The campaign aimed at creating awareness among farmers on crop protection, scientific farming practices, pest and disease management, and sustainable agriculture.
The inaugural programme witnessed active participation of around 34 farmers, farm women, and rural youths from nearby villages. During the programme, Vikas Bidhan, Coordinating In-charge of the programme, along with experts from KVK Longding, highlighted the importance of timely management of crop pests and diseases, especially during the kharif season, to minimize crop losses and improve farm productivity.
The scientists also emphasized integrated farming practices, balanced use of organic inputs, field sanitation, and adoption of climate-resilient agricultural technologies. Farmers were encouraged to regularly monitor their fields and consult KVK experts for scientific advisories whenever required.
Speaking on the occasion, the KVK officials stated that the campaign aims to strengthen awareness at the grassroots level and promote sustainable agricultural practices among farming communities of the district. Various awareness camps, field visits, demonstrations, and farmer interactions will mark the month-long campaign.
The participants appreciated the initiative and expressed their willingness to adopt improved agricultural practices for better crop production and livelihood improvement. The programme concluded with an interactive session between farmers and KVK scientists.
