ITANAGAR, Jun 3: As part of ongoing efforts to enforce the prohibition on all forms of fishing activities in West Siang district, the district administration conducted a seizure operation at a local market in Aalo on Wednesday, confiscating locally caught fish being sold there.
The operation was jointly carried out by Town Magistrate Jumkar Karbi, Assistant Commissioner, and Officer-in-Charge of Aalo Police Station, Inspector Yomken Riram. The drive formed part of a broader enforcement initiative to ensure strict compliance with the order banning fishing activities, which was issued by the District Magistrate in May 2026.
The seized fish were later disposed of in the presence of the DM as a deterrent against violations and to ensure adherence to the prohibition order.
The district administration has urged the public to cooperate with the regulations aimed at conserving aquatic resources and maintaining ecological balance in the district.
