Guv reaches Shillong to attend 73rd NEC Plenary

Itanagar, Jun 3: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik arrived in Shillong on Wednesday to participate in the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC).

The Governor, accompanied by Commissioner to Governor Pawan Kumar Sain, was received by officials of the NEC upon his arrival.

The day-long plenary session will be chaired by Union Home Minister and NEC Chairman Amit Shah. The meeting will also be attended by DoNER Minister and NEC Vice-Chairman Jyotiraditya Scindia, Governors and Chief Ministers of the North Eastern states, Chief Secretaries, senior officials of the Government of India, and other distinguished delegates.

The plenary is expected to review the progress of ongoing developmental programmes and initiatives across the NE region and chart a forward-looking roadmap to accelerate growth, enhance connectivity, strengthen border infrastructure, and improve the overall quality of life of the people of the Northeast.

The meeting assumes significance as it seeks to align regional development priorities with the national vision of a developed and prosperous India while promoting balanced and inclusive growth across the North Eastern states.
