BOMDILA, Jun 3: A hands-on training programme on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) was conducted at the DC’s conference hall here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of West Kameng District Election Officer (DEO) Dr Dilip Kumar.
Addressing the participants, the DEO highlighted the objectives of SIR-2026 and stressed that during the revision process, no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll while preventing the inclusion of ineligible persons.
He stated that controversies often arise when ineligible voters are found in electoral rolls and emphasized that such issues must be handled impartially and strictly in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The DEO also urged all stakeholders involved in the revision process to discharge their duties with sincerity, dedication, and a sense of responsibility. He further directed all EROs and AEROs to adequately sensitise Booth Level Officers (BLOs) about their roles and responsibilities during the revision exercise.
State level master trainer Sougato Maity delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation explaining the functions, responsibilities, and procedures to be followed by EROs, AEROs, and BLOs during SIR-2026. He also briefed participants on the key timelines and important dates related to the revision process.
As part of the training, a demonstration video showcasing the procedure for filling up the Enumeration Form was screened to provide practical guidance to the participants.
The programme also featured an interactive session during which Maity addressed various queries and clarified doubts raised by the EROs and AEROs. (DIPRO)
