Itanagar, June 5 (UNI) The Spearhead Division under the Spear Corps observed World Environment Day by organizing a series of environment-centric activities across Tuting, Boraroopak and Sigar in Arunachal Pradesh, reaffirming the Indian Army’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, troops and local residents. A range of activities, including tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns and poster-making competitions, were conducted to promote environmental awareness and encourage responsible stewardship of natural resources.
Army personnel joined hands with school children and teachers in tree plantation and cleanliness drives, underscoring the collective responsibility of preserving the region’s pristine ecological heritage. In Tuting, students displayed their creativity and environmental awareness through a poster-making competition based on themes of sustainability and environmental protection.
At Boraroopak, troops carried out a large-scale plantation drive aimed at increasing green cover and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. Similar initiatives were undertaken at Sigar, reinforcing the importance of conservation and community participation in protecting the environment for future generations.
The events served as a platform to spread awareness on environmental sustainability while strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and local communities. The initiative reflects the Army’s continued commitment to nation-building, community engagement and the preservation of Arunachal Pradesh’s rich natural heritage.
