Tawang officials trained on SIR of Electoral Rolls 2026

Tawang, Jun 5: In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening the electoral process and ensuring free, fair and inclusive elections, a comprehensive training programme on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls 2026 was conducted at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office here on Friday.

The programme brought together Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officer (BLO) Supervisors, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and officials from the Election Department to enhance their understanding of electoral roll management and revision procedures.

Addressing the participants, Deputy District Election Officer Rinchin Leta highlighted the crucial role of Booth Level Officers in maintaining clean, accurate and error-free electoral rolls. He urged all election personnel to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication, stressing that effective field-level verification is essential for identifying and correcting discrepancies in voter lists, thereby strengthening the democratic process.

Earlier, ERO of Tawang Assembly Constituency, Tsering Choden, welcomed the participants and encouraged them to actively engage in the training sessions. She advised officials to seek clarifications whenever necessary and make the most of the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills.

The technical session was conducted by Sougata Maity, assistant programmer in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Arunachal Pradesh. He provided detailed insights into the SIR process, electoral roll management practices and the latest operational procedures to be followed during the revision exercise.

The training programme reinforced the commitment of election officials towards maintaining accurate electoral rolls, ensuring efficient election management and promoting greater democratic participation.

Officials said the exercise is aimed at ensuring that every eligible voter is included in the electoral roll and that the electoral database remains accurate and up to date ahead of future elections.
