ITANAGAR, Jun 5: The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), North-East Regional Office, organised an awareness-cum-outreach programme along with a preventive health check-up camp at DCBO, Itanagar on Thursday.
The programme aimed at creating awareness about the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Scheme and its benefits among insured persons, beneficiaries, and employers in the State.
During the event, participants were informed about the various medical and cash benefits available under the ESI Scheme. An interactive session was also held to address grievances and gather feedback from stakeholders, facilitating on-the-spot resolution of issues and improving service delivery.
The programme was graced by Insurance Commissioner, North-East Zone, Pranay Sinha as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted key initiatives undertaken by ESIC, including the implementation of the Code on Social Security, which seeks to expand social security coverage to unorganised workers, gig and platform workers, tea plantation labourers, and employees engaged in hazardous industries, while strengthening benefits for workers in the organised sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Nodal Officer of the ESIC North-East Regional Office, Dr Bhumidhar Barman, said efforts are underway to empanel more hospitals in the State to strengthen healthcare services for ESI beneficiaries. Issues raised by some employers during the programme were resolved on the spot.
A large number of insured persons and beneficiaries participated in the programme and availed services provided through the preventive health check-up camp. Employers appreciated the initiative and stressed the importance of conducting such outreach programmes to enhance awareness and understanding of the ESI Scheme across the Northeastern region.
