LIKABALI, Jun 12: In view of the onset of the monsoon, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Lower Siang district, has issued a monsoon advisory, urging all citizens to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being during the rainy season.
The advisory highlights that heavy rainfall, strong winds, floods, landslides, and other natural calamities may pose serious risks to life and property. The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Lower Siang, has appealed to the public to remain alert and follow precautionary measures to minimize risks during the monsoon period.
The advisory requests citizens to avoid vulnerable and landslide-prone areas, refrain from venturing into rivers and streams during heavy rains, and not obstruct natural water channels. Residents have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions and strictly refrain from activities such as extraction of boulders, sand, and other materials from riverbanks during rainy days.
Further, the public has been encouraged to maintain emergency supplies including food items, drinking water, medicines, batteries, and first aid kits. Citizens are also advised to stay updated with official weather forecasts and information issued by Government authorities and avoid spreading or believing rumours.
