Guv calls for regular voluntary blood donation, hails donors as silent heroes

ITANAGAR, Jun 13: State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik has expressed heartfelt gratitude to voluntary blood donors for their selfless contribution to saving lives, on the eve of World Blood Donor Day.

In his message, the Governor described blood donors as “silent heroes” whose acts of kindness provide hope to patients during emergencies, support mothers during childbirth, assist individuals undergoing surgeries and cancer treatment, and help save countless lives every day.

Referring to this year’s World Blood Donor Day theme, “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives,” Parnaik said it aptly reflects the spirit of compassion and solidarity that forms the foundation of voluntary blood donation.

He emphasized that every unit of donated blood is a priceless gift that cannot be manufactured and can only come from generous individuals willing to help others without expecting anything in return.

The Governor called upon youth, communities, institutions and all eligible citizens to embrace blood donation as a noble social responsibility. He noted that a few minutes spent donating blood can make a life-saving difference for someone in need.

“Regular voluntary blood donation strengthens our healthcare system and ensures that safe blood is available to every patient, everywhere and whenever required,” he said.

Governor also urged citizens to celebrate the spirit of humanity by pledging to donate blood regularly and motivating others to join the life-saving mission. He reiterated that voluntary blood donation remains one of the most meaningful ways individuals can contribute to society and support the healthcare needs of the community.
