Ahead of IDY 26, RGU holds CYP Session for NCC & NSS volunteers

RONO HILLS, Jun 13: As part of the nationwide Countdown Programme leading to the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, Rajiv Gandhi University successfully organized a Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) Session for NCC and NSS volunteers at its main playground here this morning.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of RGU Vice Chancellor Prof S K Nayak, with the support and encouragement of Registrar, with the objective of promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline, and awareness of the CYP among youth volunteers in preparation for the grand celebration of the IDY 2026 themed ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’.

A large number of NCC cadets and NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically in the early morning yoga session and performed various yogic practices, including Asanas, Pranayama, and meditation techniques, as prescribed under the Common Yoga Protocol.

The session was effectively conducted by Rikpu Kamcham, teaching assistant (Yoga), whose expert guidance and practical demonstrations enabled the participants to understand the importance of regular yoga practice for maintaining physical fitness, mental peace, and overall well-being.

Dr A Yuvaraj, Asstt Director Physical Education and Nodal Officer for the IDY 2026 event, actively participated in the CYP Session and supervised overall conduct of the event. He highlighted the significance of yoga in developing a healthy body, calm mind, and balanced lifestyle.

The celebrations will culminate with the grand ‘Yoga Sangam’ programme on 21st June 2026, reinforcing the message of this year’s theme.
