ITANAGAR, Jun 15: The DBT-APSCS&T Centre of Excellence for Bioresources and Sustainable Development (CoE-BRSD), Kimin, stated that Dr Sanjeeb Kalita, Scientist at the Centre, has been recognized among the World’s Top 5% Scientists in the 2025 SciRank Global Scientist Registry (www.scirankglobal.org), Boston, Massachusetts, USA, based on an independent bibliometric assessment of global research contributions.
The recognition serves as a testament to the growing scientific excellence in Arunachal Pradesh and highlights the increasing international visibility of research and innovation originating from the State, said the CoE-BRSD, in a press note.
The achievement is particularly significant for Arunachal Pradesh, a biodiversity-rich State whose future bioeconomy growth depends on scientific innovation, sustainable utilization of biological resources, and the development of knowledge-based enterprises. The recognition serves as an encouragement to scientists and researchers working in the region to pursue impactful research that addresses local challenges while contributing to global scientific advancement.
Dr Kalita has been actively engaged in translational biotechnology research on the medicinal, aromatic, and other economically important plant resources of Arunachal Pradesh with a focus on developing affordable and sustainable solutions for healthcare, nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, and bioresource-based applications. His research emphasizes the scientific validation and value addition of indigenous biological resources through multidisciplinary approaches integrating biotechnology, natural products research, traditional knowledge systems, and material science.
Dr Debajit Mahanta, Project Director of the CoE, stated that this recognition reflects not only the accomplishments of an individual scientist but also the collective efforts being made to build a vibrant scientific ecosystem in Arunachal Pradesh. Such achievements demonstrate that high-quality research conducted in the State can achieve global recognition while simultaneously contributing to local development priorities.
Meanwhile, the APSCS&T has congratulated Dr Kalita on this achievement and expressed confidence that this recognition would further strengthen ongoing efforts towards bioresource-based innovation, scientific excellence, and socio-techno-economic transformation through biotechnological interventions.
