PASIGHAT, Jun 16: A district level coordination meeting, organized by East Siang District Education Department, was held at the IGJ GHSS auditorium here today, which was attended by the DC East Siang, DDSE East Siang, district level officials/officers, block functionaries, all Head of Institution (HoIs) of Govt Primary School, Govt Upper Primary School, Govt Sec School & Govt Hr Sec School.
At the outset, DDSE Odhuk Tabing through a PPT highlighted various educational programmes/policies, departmental initiatives, learning outcomes and key issues faced by the district.
During the interactive session led by DC Sonlika Jiwani, various issues & challenges faced by the schools were discussed.
The DC emphasized the urgent need for registration of school land across the district. Out of 125 Govt Schools, 53 schools have completed registration, 50 schools are currently undergoing the registration process, and 11 schools are facing land donor related issue, while another 11 schools are situated within reserve forest area.
The DC assured that the administration would take necessary steps to resolve issues related to land donors & RFAs.
The meeting also reviewed issues related to the opening of students’ bank accounts. Responding positively to the concerns, the DC assured support from the District Administration’s end through deployment of Aadhaar enrolment camps & banking personnel. Stating that DBT is non-negotiable, she said that eligible students shall not be deprived of Educational benefits.
Key issues like shortage of Mathematics & Science teachers in the district were also discussed. The implementation & progress of Mukhya Mantri Shiksha Kosh Yojana, School infrastructure development, functioning of Smart classrooms, operation of Mid-Day Meal Scheme & the status of ‘inclusive education’ also came in for review.
The DC urged teachers to understand Child Psychology & identify Children with Special Learning & Developmental need such as Dyslexia, Autism & other Disorder. She encouraged teachers to adopt a caring & supportive approach, acting as Mentor & Guardian within the school community.
Sanitation & cleanliness in schools also received special attention. The DC instructed all HoIs to maintain Clean & Dust-Free Classrooms & ensure healthy learning environment. Regarding textbooks, she directed schools & District Textbook authority to ensure immediate distribution of the books so that academic activities are not hampered.
Moreover, the DC reminded all Head of Schools & teachers to comply with transfer & posting regulations.
BEO (Aca) John Panyang also delivered a presentation outlining steps & strategy to improve academic performance in the district. His presentation focused on strengthening learning outcome, enhancing classroom practice to subject teachers, among other issues.
Concluding the meeting, the DC called upon all HoIs to work with greater dedication & commitment towards improving academic performance & overall students’ welfare.
