West Kameng DLC reviews VVP-II project proposals for border village development

BOMDILA, Jun 16: A meeting of the District Level Committee (DLC) on the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP)-II was held at the Deputy Commissioner's Office premises here on Tuesday to scrutinize and deliberate on project proposals received from the Dirang and Kalaktang sub-divisions.

The meeting was attended by West Kameng district Superintendent of Police, heads of departments, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), SSB, Bomdila, along with senior officers of various SSB units, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Block Development Officers and other officials from Dirang and Kalaktang.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar urged all departments to make coordinated and result-oriented efforts while preparing project proposals strictly in accordance with the objectives and operational guidelines of VVP-II. He emphasized the need for prior confirmation of land availability and completion of all necessary documentation to avoid implementation bottlenecks at later stages.

The DC stated that the proposed interventions should focus not only on creating essential infrastructure and public amenities but also on strengthening community participation and generating sustainable livelihood opportunities for residents of border villages.

He underscored that such targeted developmental initiatives would play a vital role in reducing outward migration from border areas and encouraging reverse migration, thereby enhancing the socio-economic vitality and long-term sustainability of strategically important frontier villages.

Earlier, District Planning Officer Henmar Taipodia presented a comprehensive overview of the status of ongoing projects and the proposed interventions under VVP-II.

Heads of departments actively participated in the discussions and provided valuable suggestions and sector-specific inputs for effective formulation, prioritization and convergence of the proposed projects. (DIPRO)
