W/Siang DC stresses to curb deforestation and protect environment

AALO, Jun 16: A District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting was held at the DC’s conference hall here today under the chairmanship of West Siang Deputy Commissioner Mindo Loyi.

Addressing the gathering, the DC urged all PR leaders to actively participate in DLMC meetings to ensure better coordination and monitoring of developmental activities. He emphasized that all government departments must maintain the quality of works and ensure timely completion of projects without compromise.

Highlighting the importance of the Smart Meter initiative, Loyi stated that it is a progressive step taken by the Government of India and would greatly benefit consumers through efficient energy management. He encouraged citizens to adopt the system positively.

Expressing concern over declining water levels in the district, the DC stressed the need for stricter measures to curb deforestation and protect environment. He also directed all departments to submit updated reports on the progress of their respective works and schemes.

Speaking at the meeting, West Siang ZPC Nyali Bagra emphasized that development schemes sanctioned by both Central and State governments should be implemented effectively and transparently. He urged departments to keep the ZPC informed in advance regarding the implementation of various schemes and to ensure that benefits reach the genuine and deserving beneficiaries.

On the education sector, Bagra stressed that salary payments should not be released to absentee teachers under any circumstances. He further appealed to all stakeholders and members present to take strict measures against hunting, illegal fishing, and deforestation in the district in order to preserve the region’s rich biodiversity and natural resources.

Earlier, the meeting commenced with a welcome address by Koj Tacho, Assistant Commissioner-cum-District Planning Officer (DPO), who highlighted the significance of effective implementation and monitoring of Central and State flagship schemes, as well as various developmental projects being undertaken by various government departments in the district.
