ITANAGAR, Jun 17: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a series of infrastructure and development projects at Bhalukpong and Thrizino in West Kameng district.
The projects were inaugurated in the presence of local MLA Tenzin Nyima Glow and senior district officials.
Among the projects inaugurated were badminton halls at Bhalukpong and Thrizino, four-unit residential quarters of DA Department at both locations, and an auditorium at the Government Higher Secondary School, Thrizino.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stones for several new projects, including the Assistant Commissioner’s Office at Bhalukpong, new school buildings at Koilabati and Lepanghuda, school buildings with teachers’ accommodation at NSCBAV, Subu, a 20-bedded hostel and teachers’ quarters at Lepanghuda, and a nunnery hostel and conference hall at Rangapara.
Addressing the gathering, Khandu said the projects would significantly strengthen educational institutions, sports infrastructure, administrative services and community facilities in the area.
“These initiatives reflect our government's commitment to ensuring balanced development and creating better opportunities for students, youth and local communities,” he said.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the new facilities would contribute to the overall development of the region while improving access to quality education and sports infrastructure.
MLA Tenzin Nyima Glow thanked the Chief Minister for his continued support and developmental initiatives in Thrizino-Buragaon Assembly Constituency.
He said the constituency has witnessed substantial progress under the leadership of Chief Minister Khandu and expressed optimism that more developmental projects would be implemented in the coming years.
Representatives of the Greater Kameng Badminton Association (GKBA), including president Er Aju Khonjuju and general secretary Dr Rinchin Neema, welcomed the inauguration of the new badminton facilities and stressed the importance of developing quality sports infrastructure across districts and circle headquarters.
The newly inaugurated badminton hall at Bhalukpong features four international-standard courts, while the facility at Thrizino has two courts.
Sports enthusiasts and local residents expressed hope that the facilities would help nurture young talent and promote badminton and other sporting activities in the region.
The projects are expected to enhance public infrastructure, encourage youth participation in sports and contribute to the overall development of West Kameng district.
