Itanagar, Jun 18: In a significant boost to the education sector, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas Arunachal Pradesh Trust have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) at Tato in Shi Yomi district.
The proposed school will be established from the existing Government Secondary School, Tato, and will function as a co-educational day-cum-residential institution. The initiative is expected to enhance access to quality education and provide holistic learning opportunities for children of Tato and adjoining areas.
Welcoming the development, Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona described it as “major good news” for the people of Tato and Shi Yomi district. “The proposed VKV will open new possibilities for quality education and holistic development of children in the region,” he said.
Sona, who represents Shi Yomi’s only assembly constituency, Mechuka, in the Assembly, further added that the signing of the MoU marks a significant step towards fulfilling the educational aspirations of the people of Shi Yomi district and building a stronger foundation for the future of children in the region.
He further stated that the signing of the MoU marks an important milestone in the government's efforts to improve educational opportunities in remote areas and build a stronger foundation for the future of children in the district.
According to officials, the proposed VKV at Tato will bring the proven educational values and institutional experience of the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas closer to students of Shi Yomi district, helping promote academic excellence, discipline, character-building and all-round development among students.
The state government also expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in making the initiative possible and reiterated its commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and expanding access to quality education across Arunachal Pradesh, particularly in remote and frontier districts.
