KHONSA, Jun 20: Environment & Forests, and DoTCL Minister Wangki Lowang, while conducting an extensive inspection of several roads and bridges hit by the recent flash floods in the Deomali subdivision, has asked for taking required steps for immediate restoration of the affected infrastructure.
The unprecedented flash floods have caused widespread devastation across the area, severely damaging road infrastructure, bridges, and communication links in several villages and localities, significantly disrupting transportation and affecting the daily lives of the people.
The Minister, who was accompanied by Deomali ADC B Tawsik, carried out the inspection. They assessed the extent of damages on the ground and interacted with officials concerned regarding the restoration of essential infrastructure. Expressing concern over the losses incurred, the Minister stated that restoring connectivity and ensuring the smooth delivery of public services would be the government’s immediate priority.
The Minister directed the concerned departments to prepare and implement urgent restoration measures at the earliest, while emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts among all line departments to expedite repair works and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
Reassuring the public of the government’s commitment to their welfare, the Minister assured that all possible assistance would be extended to mitigate the hardships faced by the affected communities and to strengthen infrastructure against future natural calamities.
The district administration and concerned departments have already initiated preliminary assessments and are working towards the early restoration of damaged roads, bridges, and other essential public infrastructure. (DIPRO)
