KHONSA, Jun 19: The Department of School Education, Tirap district in collaboration with the District Administration organized the 2nd felicitation programme for district level Top-3 students of Classes III to XII for the academic session 2024-25 under the Golden Jubilee Meritorious Students’ Award, an initiative of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, at the Circuit House Community Hall here today.
A total of 30 students who secured the top three positions in their respective classes at the district level were honoured with cash awards, certificates and mementoes in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.
Under the award scheme, cash incentives were distributed according to class categories. Students securing the first, second and third positions in Classes III and IV received Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. For Classes V to IX and Class XI, the cash awards ranged from Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000, while the toppers of Classes X and XII received the highest incentives of Rs 50,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.
Altogether, a total cash award amount of Rs 8.40 lakh was distributed among the 30 meritorious students.
The district level first rank holders feted during the programme were Khampai Wangsa (Class III), Ruwmang Lowang (IV), Berme Dada (V), Pobu Moinyak (VI), Ponya Pansa (VII), Ayang Lego (VIII), Lovely Limbu (IX), Ashia Tarh (X), Chewang Akhang (XI), and Teaphang Khoisia (XII).
The programme was graced by ADC Tirap Namneet Singh as chief guest, while Nyampo Matey Lowang, Retired Principal of Deomali Hr Sec School, attended as guest of honour. The dignitaries felicitated the meritorious students in presence of officers from the District Administration, education officials, Heads of Schools, teachers, parents and students.
Addressing the gathering, the ADC congratulated the awardees and their parents, stating that success is a journey and not a destination. He encouraged the students to view the award as a stepping stone towards higher achievements and meaningful contributions to society. He observed that district toppers often emerge from only a few schools and urged all schools, particularly government schools, to strive for academic excellence. Noting that girls constituted nearly 80 percent of the awardees, he encouraged boys to work harder and compete positively.
Sharing his own experience, the ADC said that he was an average student but was able to clear one of the country’s toughest competitive examinations through hard work, determination and perseverance. He urged the students to remain focused on their goals and never give up on their dreams.
Lowang highlighted the vital role played by parents in shaping the success of their children. She encouraged the students to maintain a positive mindset while facing challenges in life and urged them to be courageous, resilient and optimistic in pursuing their goals.
DDSE Tirap, and Organizing chairperson of the programme, K C Lowangcha congratulated the awardees and stated that the Golden Jubilee Meritorious Students Award was instituted to promote healthy academic competition and motivate students to perform to their fullest potential.
