State Central Library launches free membership drive

ITANAGAR, Jun 20: The Department of Public Libraries, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, has launched a free membership drive at the State Central Library, Itanagar, to encourage reading habits and promote greater public access to knowledge resources.

The initiative was announced on the occasion of National Reading Day on Friday and coincides with the National Reading Month, being celebrated from June 19 to July 18.

As part of the campaign, citizens are being encouraged to avail themselves of free library membership and make use of the vast collection of books, reference materials, newspapers, journals and other educational resources available at the State Central Library.

Officials stated that the membership drive aims to foster a culture of reading among students, youth and the general public while strengthening the role of libraries as centres of learning, research and intellectual growth.

The department has appealed to students, researchers, professionals and book lovers to take advantage of the free membership initiative and actively participate in the activities planned during National Reading Month.
