AALO, Jun 20: As part of the week-long celebrations leading up to International Yoga Day 2026, the Spearhead Division under Spear Corps organised a special yoga session with students of North Eastern Frontier Technical University (NEFTU), Aalo, in West Siang district on Saturday.
Held amidst the scenic surroundings of the Siyom Valley, the morning session witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 100 students and Army personnel, bringing together youth and soldiers in a collective effort to promote physical fitness, mental well-being and holistic health.
During the hour-long programme, participants practised various yoga postures, breathing exercises and wellness techniques aimed at enhancing flexibility, concentration, emotional balance and overall fitness. The session also highlighted the importance of yoga in fostering a healthy lifestyle, self-discipline and inner resilience.
The initiative formed part of the Indian Army's ongoing efforts to promote wellness awareness and strengthen engagement with the youth. It also reflected the spirit of harmony, unity and collective well-being that lies at the heart of International Yoga Day.
Army officials said such programmes help encourage healthy living while reinforcing bonds between the armed forces and local communities.
Participants appreciated the initiative and described it as a meaningful opportunity to learn about the benefits of yoga while interacting with Army personnel. The event further strengthened military-civil cooperation and promoted the values of fitness, discipline and positive living among the younger generation.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment by participants to incorporate yoga into their daily lives and contribute towards building a healthier and more resilient society.
