Over 83,000 Arunachal farmers benefit as 23rd PM-KISAN instalment released Wangsu highlights scheme’s importance at Kanubari event

KANUBARI, Jun 20: More than 83,000 farmers across Arunachal Pradesh received financial assistance under the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, with the release programme being observed through a live webcast at Kanubari in Longding district on Saturday.

The event, held at the ADC Conference Hall, was attended by Agriculture Minister Gabriel D Wangsu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Yashwant Meena, officials from various departments, scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), public representatives and over 200 farmer beneficiaries.

The live telecast of the Prime Minister's address and the nationwide release of PM-KISAN benefits was facilitated by KVK Longding, allowing farmers to directly witness the programme.

According to officials, 83,201 eligible farmers in Arunachal Pradesh received a total of Rs 16.88 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under the scheme, providing crucial financial support to farming households across the state.

Addressing the gathering, Wangsu highlighted the importance of PM-KISAN as a flagship farmer welfare initiative of the Government of India, which has been providing assured income support to farmers and contributing significantly towards agricultural development and livelihood security.

He appreciated the efforts of the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and all implementing agencies for ensuring smooth and transparent transfer of benefits to farmers through digital platforms.

The programme concluded with an interactive session during which farmers were briefed on ongoing agricultural initiatives, modern farming practices and government support mechanisms available in the state.

The event highlighted the government's continued commitment to empowering farmers through technology-enabled and transparent welfare programmes.
