Banderdewa Police seizes 23.45 gram heroin, arrests two

Itanagar, Jun 21: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Banderdewa Police has seized 23.45 grams of suspected heroin and arrested two persons during a naka checking drive conducted near Hanuman Mandir in Banderdewa.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the transportation of narcotic substances from Assam into Arunachal Pradesh, the police intercepted a Yamaha Ray-Z scooter and carried out a search in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act.

The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge of Banderdewa Police Station, Inspector Kipa Hamak under the supervision of SDPO Naharlagun, Rishi Longdo.

During the search, police recovered 18 vials containing suspected heroin weighing 23.45 grams along with Rs 610 in cash from the possession of Nabam Subash alias Lulu, a resident of Ganga Market, Itanagar, and Raj Pordung of Khenewa, Seppa.

The seized contraband was sealed and documented following due legal procedures in the presence of independent witnesses.

Subsequently, Banderdewa Police Station registered a case (No. 35/2026) under Sections 21(b), 27 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
